‘I look at nature and make my own song about it.’ This
statement by Ivon Hitchens epitomises my approach to drawing and painting and
is becoming stronger the longer I work. The allure of the subject decreases as I am working and I am increasingly
interested in the variety of mark making and the development of the accidental
and surprising effects produced by various media. Rural, mountain, industrial landscape, the human form and portraiture subjects
are starting points and providing basic compositional structures from which to
explore the potential of the media being used. I enjoy working in charcoal, graphite, oils and water based media'

I’m a late developer as far as art is concerned.
Graduating from dabbling to producing more serious work since retiring. I
specialise in watercolour and paint subjects that I’m attracted to either
because the subject is interesting in itself or I think I can put an
interesting twist on an image. Watercolour provides me with an infinite range
of opportunities and my recent interests are mainly with figures, portraits and
accentuated movement of people.

Mike Skidmore
Trained as a graphic
artist, Mike is a predominantly a landscape painter who favours an abstract or
semi abstract approach to his native Staffordshire countryside.
Working in acrylic, he takes inspiration from the vivid colours
and textures in nature. He seeks out interesting rock formations and landscape
anomalies, experimenting with texture and form to create multi layered
paintings on wood panels and paper.
Constantly experimenting, his process includes extensive
photographic studies and sketches.

Andy Tromans
Andrew is a print maker and painter maintaining studios in the
West Midlands and Central France. His sketch books inform his subject matter
which ranges through urban sketching material, life drawing and rural
environments. His work pushes personal and technical boundaries which can
involve risk taking and experimentation with a view to development.Andrew’s print making is reduction lino, block lino and dry point
often combined with collagraph and mono print to build images. He has recently
been exploring Japanese woodblock techniques and is incorporating these
experiences into his print makingAll of his work is hand crafted; He makes the sketch, cuts the
block, prints by hand press and applies paint to canvas and boardHe does not supply digitized reproductions of my workThe very nature of handcrafted art techniques ensures that no
print in an edition is exactly the same and is therefore unique.Much of his inspiration is sourced either in the locality of the
industrial Midlands or rural France.
Rozie White
Hi, I'm Rozie
White and I have been a member of DSoA for 14 years.
I am inspired to
create from many subjects, however, my love of music and wildlife means I
usually create pictures of rockstars and animals - sometimes I combine the two!
I mostly work with acrylics, inks and pastels.
I also enjoy
illustrating and created the APIWAS (a picture is worth a single song) for
Primordial Radio, and have produced over 500 song/band images.
I have also
written, illustrated and published a children's book - Princess Rottonbottom.
I have sold
original work, calendars and cards all over the world and currently have raised
over £6,000 for various local and international charities.
I am available
for commission work, so please email me on wholelottarozie@hotmail.co.uk
